I have hired a lot of contractors over the years and have never written a review. Charlie well deserves of some recognition for the amazing work he and his crew did. I had hired him previously to fix some tape lifting and when I decided to fix other issues, knew that I wanted him back. The contractor who built my house left me with drywall issues - seams cracking, screws popping, tape lifting, priming and not finish painting, moldings not caulked. Charlie and his crew came in and restored my foyer to one I am now proud of! I also had him repaint my great room walls and trim and he actually did more than we agreed at no additional charge because he just wanted it done right.

You don't find that commitment to quality every day and it is truly appreciated! His estimate was fair for the work he did, he completed the work on time, and there were no surprise charges at the completion of the work. Not only is it about the work, but about the people who spend days at your home and it was enjoyable to have him and his crew around. They are professional and fun to be around and care about doing the job right the first time. If you are in need of his services, I would highly recommend him. You will not be disappointed!

Charlie responded quickly to my request to get a work estimate and arrived the following week to estimate the work. He was extremely timely, professional and answered all my questions. He told me exactly what needed to be done and what he would do. The job included blending new repair work with the existing swirl pattern ceiling. He said he could blend it in nicely, but he could not guarantee perfection. I appreciated his honesty. Charlie recommended painting the ceiling to ensure a solid blend. A few days later, he sent me a detailed estimate.

I confirmed that I wanted the work done and he told me that since the job was a 1-2 day job, he could fit me in between other jobs. I was happy that he could get the work done sooner than I expected. Charlie arrived the next week with another person to do the job. He arrived on time, putting a tarp down in our entry way to prevent mud and snow from being tracked through the house. He completed the work in one day, including clean-up. He walked me through the work done and made sure I was pleased before asking for payment. I am extremely pleased with the work, looks good as new. I will follow up in the Spring with fresh paint.

Charlie and Co removed the popcorn paint from our family room vaulted ceiling, fixed the ceiling seams, which were showing signs of separation and repainted the ceiling. They also repaired our walls, such as the corner beads were showing through the paint.

We had used Charlie on an earlier phase of the project in October, 2014 and were pleased with the results. For this phase, Charlie removed wallpaper in the hallway, removed decorative ceiling beams in the LR and patched and replastered the affected areas. He uses a final plaster coat that provides a very smooth and hard surface. We were fortunate that the wallpaper came off smoothly and the walls could be plastered; the other alternate would be dry wall over the wallpaper. We wanted to get a more painted look instead of the wallpaper we had in our 1922 era house.

The hallway ceiling was tricky with many cracks, a textured ceiling and several light fixtures, but Charlie was able to blend the work in and it looks great. He repainted all the trim in the kitchen, a small bath, the hallway and the living room, which included a lot of built in cabinets and radiator covers.

The job took 8 days. They were on time (7:30 am) each day and cleaned up before they left each day. Our house was built in 1922 with the lath and plaster construction of its day. Prior to this work, the house was completely rewired, so there was some patching involved from the electrical work. Charlie was also able to build an enclosure around the exposed water piping in the small bath that was left over from a previous project. Our aim was to update the look of the old house with brighter trim and ceilings and less wallpaper, but still be true to the look of the original house. The living room has two built in shelves with cabinet doors and a fireplace all repainted. When the decorative ceiling beams were removed in the LR, it was found that they were fastened to wood rather than ceiling materials and that each one had been wallpapered in, so that there were now gaps in the wallpaper.

Charlie was able to plaster over the gaps and blend the look into the sand textured ceiling. He was also able to recover some wallpaper from behind the radiator and fill in the gaps with pieces of that. Unless you know exactly where to look the patches are invisible.

Together with the earlier project Charlie did for us, we have finished the first floor renovation. Both were outstanding jobs. I would highly recommend him. The combination of dry wall skills and painting skills does not seem to be common. A lot of painters say they do repairs and patches, but would not be able to do the extensive plaster work for this type of project, Similarly, a lot of plaster or dry wall specialists do not paint. (Our previous project with Charlie was similar to this one, but also included dry walling in an entire room including ceiling after removing a variety of surfaces in an enclosed porch).

Charlie was fantastic. He really knows his stuff and his standards are high. He was very professional and fast. My folks sustained quite a bit of damage due to ice dams this winter.

He was able to get things back in shape quickly so that I could get my parents back into their bedroom. They are in their 80's, so this was pretty stressful for them. Charlie worked really well with them, got the right match for the wall colors, and left everything spic and span.

Charlie and his crew replaced and/or repaired 4 room ceilings plus repaired 2 hallway ceilings and an entryway. Unlike other quotes we received his included priming and painting the ceilings as well. One room also had crown molding that he took down and put back up.

Fantastic, two of the rooms plus one of the hallways had dormers. Charlie explained everything in detail. He was honest and told us which ceilings he could repair and which he would have to replace. He kept us informed as the work was performed. He was on time and cleaned up.

Charlie's and team finished out a bathroom renovation. They fixed errors and cleaned up mistakes from the original crew we hired to take care of the drywall for our renovation. They trimmed out the windows, doors, and baseboards. The painted the ceiling, walls, and trims.

Simply put, it could not have gone better. Our bathroom renovation has taken on its own life. We originally hired a different contractor to take care of the drywall. The original guys (not Charlie) did an absolutely abysmal job and basically went out of communication before completing the work. There were some holes, some spots not sanded, and areas that were simply not completed. A lot of areas needed attention if not completely reworked.

Before work, Charlie communicated flawlessly about when they were able to come and take care of the work, the scope of what they would do, and our requirements before they showed up (removing items so they could work). When it was time for them to start the job, they were punctual and professional at all times. We appreciated that they ran and taped craft paper where they would walk in our home to save our floors and keep the place tidy.

Most importantly, the work was absolutely first rate. They repaired and replaced the drywall where relevant. They trimmed out the window and door. They primed the areas where they had made repairs (~10). They put a fresh coat of textured paint on the ceiling. They put a fresh coat of paint on the walls, door, and trim as well.

t looks like a completely new and well finished room once they were done. Obviously, if we had to do it over again we would have picked Charlie and team from the beginning and saved the hassle. We most assuredly will find a reason to use them again and would recommend them to anyone that asked.

There were 3 parts to this job:

• Repair a bedroom popcorn-textured ceiling in which the drywall had been damaged
• Remove and replace some of the popcorn texture from a bathroom ceiling that had developed mildew
• Repair a water-damaged kitchen popcorn ceiling that had been badly repaired by a painting contractor

My entire experience with Charlie went flawlessly from start to finish. I contacted Charlie by phone shortly after my bedroom ceiling was damaged by a contractor working in my attic. The drywall was cracked and hanging lower where the contractor had stepped. It also seemed like a good time to have the mildew on the bathroom ceiling taken care of. Even though he was on vacation, Charlie returned my call that same day and we arranged for him to provide an estimate when he returned.

Charlie arrived promptly for the estimate. He explained to me how the repair in the bedroom required replacing the damaged drywall, redoing the popcorn texture in that area, and then repainting the bedroom ceiling. For the bathroom ceiling repair, he described how he would scrape off the mildewed texture, respray the texture in the affected area, and repaint the bathroom ceiling.

I was concerned about how well these repairs would blend in with the rest of the ceiling in those 2 rooms because of a bad experience I had 5 years earlier with a water-damaged kitchen ceiling. In that case, the painting contractor I used did not remove any of the damaged drywall. He patched over the damage with a texture that didn't match the rest of the kitchen texture. After 5 years, the patched area had developed cracks and was starting to bow. I showed the kitchen repair to Charlie, and he agreed it was very poorly done. He said he could make it right by replacing the drywall in that area, respraying the texture there, and then painting over it to have it blend in with the rest of the kitchen. He described that the work would be done over 2 days; one day to do the drywall repairs and spray the texture, and the second day to paint the ceilings.

It was very easy to communicate with Charlie via email. Because this was a smaller job, he was able to squeeze it in within a couple weeks. He and his men showed up right on time, and immediately covered the floors with drop cloths before they got to work. They hung plastic sheets around the areas they were working in to contain the dust and spray from the texture. At the end of the first day, Charlie updated me on their progress and they left things in a clean state. They arrived on schedule the second day to complete the painting part of the job. They did a great job cleaning up when they were done, even hosing down my brick walkway to remove any dusty footprints and moving a heavy piece of furniture back into place without my asking.

The quality of the repairs was excellent. In each case, the repair and new texture blended seamlessly into the rest of the ceiling. I was very impressed with how well the repairs turned out, and I plan to call Charlie again for future drywall work. I highly recommend Charlie to anyone needing drywall, texture, and painting work done.

Working with Charlie has been a great experience - starting with first time I contacted him via phone.

We set up an appointment to get an estimate for our primary goal - the ceiling tape repaired. Charlie arrived on time, explained why the tape had come loose (and the explanation made sense - unlike others we had heard!), and explained what he would do to fix it. While Charlie was there, we mentioned we were considering also having the walls painted. He suggested that he give us 2 parts to the quote (one with just repair and one with both repair & painting) and let us decide from there.

We had a detailed quote wit in a couple days, and because it was a small job, Charlie was able to fit us in his schedule quickly which was important to us. We communicated via email about our color selections, and Charlie sent a reminder email a few days before they were going to arrive to do the work. Charlie and Richard arrived on time to start the job. Before starting the work, they put down drop cloths and plywood to protect our carpets, and they hung a barrier so that the rest of the house would not get dusty when they were doing the repair and sanding in the room! They finished the repair work on day one. Because we weren't there to talk to them when the left for the day, Charlie sent an email to let us know about the progress and that he'd be at the house at 7:30 the next morning. The painting was finished on day 2 and the morning of day 3 and looks great!

The work area was always neat - with no impact on the rest of the house. After they were done work, they even vacuumed the carpets to get up as much dust as possible. The vacuuming was a nice surprise - I certainly hadn't expected them to do that since they had been using drop clothes and plywood!

One last thing to mention - I really appreciated that is it very easy to communicate with Charlie. We primarily communicated via email - and he always responded promptly to questions or when there wasn't a question, acknowledges that he got my email. Also, he was great about sending a status during the job if we had not talked in person.

We are very happy that we chose Charlie's Drywall and Painting for our repair and painting work. We would definitely have them do more work in the future!!!

Removed all popcorn ceiling in a 3000 square foot house and restored to a smooth finish.

Charlie and his crew repaired all of the walls, repainted ceiling, walls and trim in the entire house. This 1986 House now looks like it was just built. It was pricy but you get what you pay for so if you are looking for a first class job you will get it. The investment was well worth the money. If we were to resell the house we would get back double our investment.

This was a six week job. All work was done in a timely manner. The owner (Charlie) is hands on and did the work. There was no subcontracting nor did they leave to do other jobs. Living with contractors for six week could be very difficult but it was not with Charlie and his right hand man (Rich). They were wonderful. It is nice to have contractors that are polite, respect your home and have a sense of humor. By the time they left we felt we were saying goodbye to good friends.

Charlie was fantastic to work with. In November he came in to give us an estimate which we found very reasonable (another contractor had given us a bid almost $1500 more than Charlie's). When we accepted his estimate he gave us a work date in January and we were so pleased when there were no changes. Right before coming in, he emailed he would be there between 7:30 and 8 and he and his coworkers were both there at 7:30. He said the job would take 3 days but instead it took only 2.

The ceilings are now beautiful. We could not be more pleased!

Charlie was very easy to work with. I emailed him pictures of the work to be done and he gave me a price which he stuck to. He came to my house right on time and did a very good job repairing some wallboard issues. He cleaned up after himself before leaving.

We had Charlie and his two co-workers work on our two-story master bedroom. They put up some drywall, patched many holes in the drywall, removed a popcorn ceiling, blended ceiling drywall that did not line up, and then paint the walls and ceiling.

The work went extremely well. Charlie was very professional and helpful during the initial consultation. He also came to our house the week before they started to make sure that our end of the remodeling was complete, and that the room was sufficiently prepped for them to get started. Each day they were on time and did their best to keep the rest of the house from getting dusty. They also cleaned up every day before leaving, and organized their tools so that they were out of the way.

Charlie and his workers were very polite and we had no reservations having them at the house while we were not home. In the end, the room, and especially the ceiling came out better than we had hoped.

I had Charlie and his team remove the popcorn ceiling from my living room, kitchen and hall. Then they painted the ceilings, walls and trim, including doors and doorways. He was at my house for 4 days; He arrived on time, and ready to go. He cleaned every night, and when the job was finished. My rooms look amazing, everything - Walls, ceilings and base boards. I would not hesitate to use him again.

The room had not had any work done in 30 years. It had ceiling staining from water damage (ice dams two years ago), and three walls were wallpapered. Charlie did a very good job in making it look like a new room. He removed the wallpaper; you'd never know that it was there. He did a great job painting the walls, baseboards and ceiling. Good work getting rid of the ceiling stains.

He also dry walled over a couple of junction boxes in the walls, and it's like they never existed. Charlie's is not the least expensive, but they show up on time, meet schedule, and do a fine job. I recommend them and would use them again.

I had a living room (with a cathedral ceiling), dining room, upstairs hallway and front foyer painted. There was some water damage to the dining room ceiling that needed to be repaired. Also, new doors and trim were painted.

Charlie's did a fantastic job! The job was estimated to be 4-5 days duration, which I thought was optimistic, considering that the living room's cathedral ceiling required that they set up scaffolding. Also, I'd increased the scope of the project by adding extra doors that I wanted painted. Charlie quoted what I thought was a fair price for the work required. They showed up the first morning as they had committed to, and completed the project in the estimated timeframe. The painting of the walls, ceilings, doors and trim was first rate. You'd never know that the dining room ceiling had water damage. When they finished, they vacuumed and left the work area looking spotless.

Two other take-aways: 1. I'd been planning to paint the dining room for two years, and it would probably go another two years and still not be done. We often say we're going to do something, and then become so busy that it never gets done. It was good to have a professional come in and do a great job in a fraction of the time it would have taken me. Sometimes, time is more valuable than money. 2. Charlie has done some work for me previously. I'm very busy at work, and it was good to have somebody that you don't mind handing your keys to, confident in their integrity to treat your home respectfully. I'm already talking with Charlie about some more painting I'd like to have done. I recommend Charlie's Drywall & Painting highly.
